Deerfield’s Annual Movie Night has arrived!  Come join your grade-level classmates this Friday, March 15th to watch a movie with your grade-level classmates. Students can wear pajamas and bring a sleeping bag or blanket if they choose.

Movie Night will be chaperoned by Deerfield staff and is only for students who currently attend Deerfield. This is a drop-off/pick-up event. Please drop-off your child at 5:30 p.m. and pick him/her up at the designated classroom (signs will be posted) at 7:30 p.m.

Students will have the opportunity to purchase snacks, drinks, and raffle tickets for $1.00 starting at 5:30 p.m. All the money raised at movie night will be donated to a local charity by our Student Council members.

Thank you!  We hope to see many Deerfield students there!

Deerfield School Play

Congratulations to our third, fourth, and fifth grade actors in the cast of The BFG. Both of their performances last Friday were beautifully done and incredibly entertaining to watch. Thank you so much to Kidstock Theater, all of our parent volunteers and, especially, to our parent coordinator, Jodi Petrucelli, for helping our students put on such a wonderful show!

Outdoor Classroom Update

Our Outdoor Classroom may be blanketed under a foot of snow, but signs of spring are all around us.  Take a closer look at the trees and shrubs around you - buds are starting to swell, readying to burst open with the bright greens of early spring.

Indoors, we have kicked off our gardening season with seed starting.  Students from 2M, 2H and KG planted seeds this week for a new colonial garden.  Second grade students will be caring for the new plants under grow lights - watering them, monitoring new growth, and adjusting light and temperature as needed.  It's a big job - thank you to the second grade for hosting our plants, and for all your help!

Deerfield's School Committee liaison for the 2018-2019 school year is Carol Lewis. Please feel free to contact Ms. Lewis if you have any questions or feedback to share regarding the Deerfield Elementary School or Westwood Public Schools.
