Standards-Based Report Card Overview

Westwood elementary schools have been using a standards-based report card format since

2005. Standards-based report cards communicate student progress toward specific end-of-year

learning expectations. Each subject is broken down into the most important standards--or concepts

and skills--the students in the grade should learn by the end of the school year. Teachers assess

student proficiency with the learning standards throughout the school year in a variety of ways.

The standards-based report card provides parents and guardians with an understanding of

student performance based on those assessments.

The report card is aligned with the learning standards presented in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.  The Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks describe what students should know and be able to do in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
