Athletic Director Matt Gillis is pleased to share some information about several new coaches that will be joining us in the coming year. Each is eager to begin working with our student-athletes to continue the winning tradition that is the hallmark of Westwood athletics. Here is a little bit about each of our new coaches. Shannon Clark - Girls Basketball Shannon has been coaching basketball in New England for ten years on both the high school and college levels. Most recently, he worked at Newbury College where the Nighthawks enjoyed their best season in program history. He describes himself as an offensive-minded coach with a passion for developing players in a fun and competitive environment. Justin DeSorgher - Girls Ice Hockey Justin looks to use his experience as a 20-year educator and lifetime hockey enthusiast to build on the success the Westwood girls Hockey program enjoyed this year. Justin has been with the Westwood program since 2009 as the Assistant Varsity and JV Head Coach, as well as a head coach for the Bay State Games. Justin is very excited at the opportunity to lead this team. Kelly Finn - Girls Swimming Kelly has been involved with aquatics from her early childhood to today. As a former member of the Westwood High School Girls Varsity Swim Team, she continues her dedication to the sport as a coach, gaining and refining her knowledge of stroke technique. She says, “my years of working with swim teams, both as a swimmer and a coach have benefited me tremendously, and I look forward to passing along my lifelong enjoyment of swimming”. Peter Hochman - Golf Peter has been a member of the Physical Education staff at Thurston Middle School since 2007. He brings with him coaching experience as the Varsity Golf Coach at The Lab School of Washington DC. He also has coached volleyball and softball and looks forward to leading the golf program.
Melissa Talamini Levine - Field Hockey Melissa has coaching experience both in field hockey and lacrosse at the high school and college level, most recently as the Head Field Hockey Coach at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire. Melissa has had success with all her teams and can’t wait to lead Westwood Field Hockey. If you have any questions or would like to contact the coach, please contact Mr. Gillis at mgillis@westwood.k12.ma.us.
