Students analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information, and the past is used as a vehicle for understanding the present and shaping the future. History is brought to life via interactive simulations, theatrical presentations, hands-on activities, artwork, debates, and group projects. In addition, students develop their persuasive and creative writing skills, research methods, note-taking techniques, study habits, analytical thinking ability, and visual literacy. There is an emphasis on learning about cause-and-effect relationships, comparing and contrasting different groups of people, making interdisciplinary connections, and recognizing the value of primary and secondary sources. Ultimately, by studying history, current events, and cultures around the world, students understand different perspectives and learn more about their own lives. |
