📝 Message from the Superintendent Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! It's been great to see all of our returning students, as well as new families and Kindergartners, as I spent time in each school these past few weeks. I also want to offer a big thanks to our staff for welcoming students back into their classrooms and preparing for another great new school year!
In our first edition of the 2026-2027 district newsletter below, you will find information about downloading our new WPS mobile app. I hope families and staff find the new website and app to be valuable tools for staying up-to-date on all things Westwood Public Schools. In addition, you'll see some links below from the School Engagement Committee and the Coalition to Combat Hate Speech. Please take a moment to review these and fill out the Google forms if you're interested in getting involved.
I look forward to a wonderful school year and can't wait to see all the amazing things that our students across the district will do this year!

Seniors and Strikers ⚽ The WHS girls soccer team visited the Council on Aging before the start of the school year to enjoy lunch with the seniors. This event brought together generations and allowed time for some great conversation and connection. What a great way to kick off their season! |

WPS Facilities Team Custodial and facilities staff keep our schools humming along, even throughout the summer. This year, the team spent the summer tackling a few larger projects. That included: emptying the Deerfield School; cleaning and waxing all classroom floors and hallways; painting classrooms, office areas and the WHS kitchen and serving areas; working with IT and outside contractors to install a bus camera pole; performing preventative maintenance and HVAC work. We truly appreciate all of their work and enjoyed connecting at a recent team barbecue! |

Westwood welcomed 25 new educators this year at New Teacher Orientation in August. Over three days, they took part in classroom sessions and spent a day at Hale Education Center for community building. To all of our new staff: Welcome to WPS! |

Stay Engaged! The WPS School Engagement Committee wants to make sure every family feels connected, supported, and included in our school community. We are working to help families build meaningful connections with one another and easily tap into existing initiatives across our schools.
Please take 2 minutes to fill out our quick Families in WPS - Get Connected interest form. By sharing your contact info and checking off the programs or efforts that interest you, we can help keep you connected and up to date on:
Community & School Engagement: School/district committees, Welcome Clubs, and grade-level WhatsApp groups to connect with other parents. Special Education Support: Westwood SEPAC updates, events, and community resources. Volunteer Opportunities: Inclusive Read-Aloud programs in elementary classrooms. Cultural & Language Connection: Language Affinity Networks and coalition updates.
Checking a box simply signals your interest to the WPS School Engagement Committee and the WPS Equity Office. We will share your contact info and specific interests with the appropriate committee chairs or project coordinators so they can follow up with details and meeting links.
