01/24/22Week of January 24th

Dismissal Reminders and Requests

Our school day officially ends at 3:10pm each day. In an effort to facilitate a safe and smooth dismissal time, we begin our daily dismissal at 3:05pm. If you are picking your child up in a car at the end of the day, please do not arrive in the front circle prior to 3:00pm. We cannot begin dismissing students until 3:05pm and need to avoid cars spilling over onto Deerfield Avenue.

Our goal is to get all students dismissed and safely to their cars, as quickly as possible. Typically, our dismissal takes approximately 15 minutes from start to finish. If you are able to arrive between 3:10pm - 2:15pm, that would be really helpful in preventing our front circle from filling up and causing a back-up onto Deerfield Avenue. Thank you for your support, cooperation, and understanding.

Community Service Project: Sock Drive

Our Grade 5 students have organized a community service project in collaboration with Circle of Hope, which is a nonprofit organization that helps to provide clothing to children, women, and men who are homeless in the Boston and Metro West areas.

From January 24th - February 11th, we will be collecting new socks in both children and adult sizes. There will be donation boxes in the front lobby. In addition, there will be a collection jar available during our lunch periods for students and staff members who are able to donate money, instead of socks.

Thank You: (Red and Pink Sign)

Thank you so much to the Deerfield students and families for organizing the students wearing red and pink on Friday. It was a wonderful surprise and such a creative and thoughtful act. The Deerfield staff is equally grateful for the HUGE role you play in making our school such a special place.

Thank You: Snack Cart

Thank you so much to the Zalgenas family for all of the delicious snacks they provided last week! The Deerfield staff is so appreciative of your generosity and looks forward to these special treats each week!

Early Release Day on Wednesday, February 2nd

Next Wednesday, February 2nd will be an early-release day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:50am and we will not have lunch or afternoon recess in school. Students who order lunch from school will get their lunch before dismissal to take home or to Extended Day.
