The Westwood Public Schools is committed to providing a safe environment that promotes equal access to education and work opportunities for all adults and children regardless of age, race, color, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, qualifying disability or religion.  Should an incident of discrimination, harassment or retaliation occur, the school system shall act promptly to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary, corrective and remedial action.

It is the responsibility of every employee to comply with the WPS Non-Discrimination Policy Including Harassment and Retaliation and Protocol.

In addition, there are concrete steps that staff can take to promote a respectful and safe climate where harassment and discrimination are unacceptable.  Some examples include:

  • Modeling respectful, tolerant behavior with both colleagues and students.
  • Making curriculum choices that incorporate diverse viewpoints.
  • Intervening when harassing or discriminatory actions occur.
  • Promptly reporting information about possible harassment and discrimination to the principal, assistant principal or a Designated Official (see below).

District level administrators are charged with ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding civil rights. Please contact these individuals if you have any questions or concerns related to harassment or discrimination.
