Early Release Day on Wednesday, March 1st
The Wednesday we return from the February break, Wednesday, March 1st will be an early-release day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:50am and we will not have lunch or afternoon recess during the school day. Students are able to get lunch from school on early-release Wednesdays. They may stop by the cafeteria at dismissal and get a lunch to take home. If students are going to Extended Day, then they will have lunch at the Hanlon School when they arrive and do not need to get a lunch from the Deerfield cafeteria.
School Committee Meeting: Thursday, March 9th
The monthly School Committee meeting for March will be held on Thursday, March 9th beginning at 7:00pm at the Westwood High School Little Theater.
Reminder: Westwood Integrated Preschool: Change in Enrollment Practice
Enrollment in the Westwood Integrated Preschool takes place via an annual lottery of interested families. Starting with the enrollment process for the 2023-2024 school year, the District is changing how the lottery is conducted. Specifically, new families who are enrolling in the Preschool for the fall of 2023 will no longer be guaranteed future slots for siblings. (Families who previously enrolled students in the Preschool with the expectation that siblings will be guaranteed a slot will be “grandfathered.”) This change in practice reflects feedback we have received from the community and our desire to create more equitable access for all residents we serve. We understand that decisions about preschool involve many factors and want to make sure that families have this information now to assist with future planning.

Reminder: Spring 2023 MCAS Schedule
The testing window for the Spring 2023 MCAS exams is March 27th - May 26th. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take two English Language Arts exams and two Math exams. Students in grade 5 will also take two Science, Technology and Engineering exams.
