FY '17 Budget Executive Summary (document)

At last Thursday night's School Committee meeting, Dr. Antonucci presented his recommended FY '17 School Department Budget. I have attached his Executive Summary. I encourage you to take the time to read it. Please let me know if you have any questions.

 

Report Cards

The Elementary Report Cards for all students will be mailed home on Friday, January 29th. The January Report Cards offer an excellent opportunity for teachers to share how students are currently performing as they work toward end-of-the-year grade-level benchmarks. 

If you do not receive your child's Report Card by Wednesday, February 3rd, please contact Mrs. Miller.

 

PARCC Dates by Grade-Level

The PARCC testing dates, by grade-level, have been added to the calendar on the Deerfield website. They have also been added to the Deerfield Families Google calendar. 

The testing window for the elementary schools begins on Monday, May 2nd and runs through Friday, June 3rd. Please make every effort to have your children present in school for their assigned testing days. 

 

Mini-Courses for Student who Attend Extended Day

Please read the following message from the coordinators of Deerfield's Mini-Courses:

Dear Parents,

We have been aware that children attending the Extended Day program have not been able to participate in the Deerfield after school Mini-Course program. We have been working to try to find a solution so that students can participate in Mini-Courses. 

To that end, we have been working with the Hanlon PTO and they have invited Deerfield Students to attend Hanlon Mini-Courses. The next Hanlon Mini-Course session starts this spring and registration will begin in February. 

At this stage, we need one or two parents of children in the Extended Day program to volunteer to help us get this new program up and running. These volunteers would be the liaisons with the Hanlon PTO and Extended Day Administrators. This role would include things such as setting up the initial processes around making sure Deerfield parents are sent the registration forms and how to return them, as well as other fine details that are important in order to have the new program run smoothly. We do not expect this role to take more than an hour or two of someone's time.
