Field Day Thank You

We had a wonderful Field Day last Thursday, June 2nd. The weather was beautiful, the games went smoothly, and the popsicles were plentiful.

Thank you so much to all of the parents and family members who volunteered their time during Field Day. A special thank you goes out to Field Day parent-coordinator, Maureen Roycroft, and our PE teacher, Ms. Wine, for all of their planning and preparations for the day. It was a truly enjoyable community event.

Walk-A-Thon and Community Picnic

The annual Deerfield School Walk-A-Thon will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016. The Deerfield Walk-A-Thon is a voluntary fund-raiser developed by the Deerfield School Site Council in conjunction with the Deerfield School PTO. It is designed to be a community-building activity for our students, families, staff, and community members. Participants will meet at 5:20pm on Friday, June 10th by the softball field behind the Deerfield School on the Police station and Town Hall side of the Deerfield fields. After a few opening remarks, we will begin walking laps around the Deerfield fields. Participants are encouraged to set a goal for the number of laps they will walk and raise money per lap walked. After the walk, we will have a Deerfield community picnic on the Deerfield fields.

This year, the Deerfield community will be raising money for scholarships to the Hale Reservation educational programs. Our goal is for each Walk-A-Thon participant to raise a minimum of $10.00. However, we will accept all donations and participants. Students, families, staff, and community members are invited to walk. Anyone who does not walk is invited to stand along the walking path and support the walkers with cheers and words of encouragement. We hope you will consider joining us for the walk-a-thon and community picnic.

Dismissal on the Last Day of School

The last day of school this year will be June 21st, which will be a half a day with no lunch served. The Deerfield school dismissal will take place at 12:05pm on that day. As on early release days, there will be no separate Kindergarten Buses. All students will be dismissed at 12:05pm.
