Staffing Update

Jennifer Fuller has resigned as our Resource Room Teacher. Her last day will be Friday, October 30th. Please join me in thanking her for her efforts at Deerfield and wishing her well in her future endeavors. I am pleased to announce that Peggy Kennedy has accepted the position of Deerfield’s Resource Room Teacher. Peggy is certified in both Special Education and Elementary Education. She was with Deerfield last year as an Intern in our Lesley University-Westwood Public Schools Collaborative Graduate Program. She has also been working at Deerfield this year as a General Education Instructional Assistant. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Kennedy as our new Resource Room Teacher.

Cindy Murphy has accepted the Lunchroom Aide position at Deerfield. She began working at Deerfield on Monday, October 26th. Carolyn Nesbitt will continue her work as an Instructional Assistant at Deerfield. Please join me in welcoming Cindy to Deerfield.

School Picture Retakes

School picture retakes will take place on Wednesday, November 4th. If you would like your child to have his or her picture retaken, please send in the original photographs to Mrs. Miller on or before Wednesday.

A reminder to all fifth-grade parents: The fifth-grade class picture will also be taken on Wednesday, November 4th.

Announcements from the Deerfield Student Council

Breast Cancer Awareness Fund Raiser

The Deerfield community raised $401.83 during the breast cancer awareness fund raiser. The money will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer program. Thank you so much to all who donated.

Operation Gratitude

We will be collecting Halloween candy to support Operation Gratitude. This is an organization that creates care packages and sends them to members of our U.S. Military. There is a box for donations outside of the cafeteria. We will be collecting candy until Friday, November 5th.

A special thank you to the Deerfield PTO for providing the postage necessary to mail our packages to the troops.
