Thank You from the Deerfield Staff

Thank you so much to the Deerfield PTO for providing a delicious breakfast for our teachers on Monday, August 29th. This was the first official day back for teachers and having breakfast together was such a nice way to reconnect with each other and kick-off the year. We truly appreciate your generosity and ongoing support!

 

Curriculum Night

Deerfield’s Curriculum Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 15th beginning at 6:15pm. This event provides parents and guardians with an opportunity to hear an overview of the year’s curriculum, see their child’s classroom, and ask general questions regarding the school year. This evening is for adults only. Please let Mrs. Miller or Mr. Baumer know if you need babysitting for this event.

The schedule for the evening is as follows:
6:15pm - 7:00pm        Classroom presentations for grades 3-5
7:00pm - 7:30pm        Principal’s welcome in the gym for all grades
7:30pm - 8:15pm        Classroom presentations for grades K-2

 

No Parking on Deerfield Avenue

I have been informed by the Westwood Police Department that they will be enforcing the "No Parking" on Deerfield Avenue beginning the end of next week. This means that if you park on the far side of Deerfield Avenue (not the side closest to the school) during the school day, at dismissal times, or during evening events, you may be issued a parking ticket. 

 

Please park in the designated parking spots at the Deerfield school or in the surrounding area or park on the school side of Deerfield Avenue. Thank you for your cooperation.

 

Community Picnic (New Date)

The Deerfield Community Picnic will be held on Friday, September 23rd starting at 5:00pm. All staff members, students, and families are invited to this community event. Pack a picnic dinner and gather on the fields behind the Deerfield school as we all usher in the new school year together. 

 

Deerfield Families Google Calendar

I have created a Google Calendar to help us all keep track of Deerfield school and community events. I named the calendar “Deerfield Families.” The URL address is: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/westwood.k12.ma.us_3auitlt8db25l028sjv44dpki0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

 

You may be able to add this calendar to the electronic calendar on your phone, tablet, or computer by simply clicking on the link to the URL address. However, if that does not work, please try the following steps:

1) Open the electronic calendar on your device.
2) Click on the down arrow next to the “other calendars” box.
3) In the drop down menu, select “Add by URL.”
4) Enter the following URL: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/westwood.k12.ma.us_3auitlt8db25l028sjv44dpki0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
5) Click the “Add Calendar” button.

 

Please let me know if you have any difficulty subscribing to the Deerfield Families calendar. In addition to the calendar on the Deerfield website, Mrs. Miller and I will be updating the Google Calendar regularly throughout the school year. If you see an error in an event or notice that an event is missing, please let us know and we will make the necessary changes and/or additions.
