Pledge Leaders

We will be continuing the tradition of inviting students to serve as Pledge Leaders on Friday morning of their birthday week. The Pledge Leaders will be invited to help lead the students in the Pledge of Alliance following the 8:20am school bell. The Pledge Leaders for next Friday represent all Deerfield students who have celebrated their birthday since the start of the school year.

Curriculum Night

Deerfield’s Curriculum Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th beginning at 6:00pm. This event provides parents and guardians with an opportunity to hear an overview of the year’s curriculum, see their child’s classroom, and ask general questions regarding the school year. This evening is for adults only. Please let Mrs. Miller or Mr. Baumer know if you need babysitting for this event.

 

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

6:00pm - 6:45pm        Classroom presentations for grades K-2
6:45pm - 7:25pm        Principal’s welcome in the gym for all grades
7:30pm - 8:15pm        Classroom presentations for grades 3-5

Thank you so much to the Deerfield PTO for providing a delicious breakfast for our teachers on Monday, August 31st. This was the first official day back for teachers and having breakfast together was such a nice way to reconnect with each other and kick-off the year. We truly appreciate your generosity and ongoing support!

 

Update on Deerfield Custodians

Thank you so much to our evening custodian, Steve Southwick, for his tireless efforts to help get Deerfield ready for the start of the year. I am so grateful for his dedication to our school.

I would like to officially welcome back our daytime custodian, Tommy Crowell!

 

Deerfield Families Google Calendar

Last spring, I created a Google Calendar to help us all keep track of Deerfield school and community events. I named the calendar “Deerfield Families.” The URL address is: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/westwood.k12.ma.us_3auitlt8db25l028sjv44dpki0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

You may be able to add this calendar to the electronic calendar on your phone, tablet, or computer by simply clicking on the link to the URL address. However, if that does not work, please try the following steps:

1) Open the electronic calendar on your device.
2) Click on the down arrow next to the “other calendars” box.
3) In the drop down menu, select “Add by URL.”
4) Enter the following URL: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/westwood.k12.ma.us_3auitlt8db25l028sjv44dpki0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
5) Click the “Add Calendar” button.

Please let me know if you have any difficulty subscribing to the Deerfield Families calendar. In addition to the calendar on the Deerfield website, Mrs. Miller and I will be updating the Google Calendar regularly throughout the school year. If you see an error in an event or notice that an event is missing, please let us know and we will make the necessary changes and/or additions.

 

School Picture Day

Our School Picture Day is this Friday, September 11th. School Picture order forms were sent home with students last Thursday. The order forms should be returned to your child's classroom teacher by Thursday, September 10th.
