Jump Rope for Heart

The American Heart Association's Jump Rope Fundraiser is here! All children will participate in the Jump Rope for Heart event during Physical Education the week of February 13th - 17th, regardless if they donate money. The donated money goes to medical research and educational programs that promote healthy hearts. Envelopes and letters were sent home last week. Be sure to have your online donations completed and/or envelopes in by Friday, February 17th. Last year, the Deerfield School raised $2,100. As of Friday 2/3, the Deerfield School has raised approximately $1,900. Thank you to all of you who have donated thus far!  Let's keep going!

Science Fair on February 15th

Deerfield’s annual Science Fair will be held on February 15, 2017 from 5:45 - 7pm. This is a great night to display the independent science projects students have been working on. Even if you did not register to display a project at the Science Fair, all Deerfield students, staff, and families are invited to attend the event and learn about students' projects and discoveries.

Message from the PTO: Clothing Drive

Clean out your closet and help the Deerfield School PTO at the same time!
Mark your calendar for the Deerfield School First Annual FUNDrive...

Bring your gently used clothing and household items to the Deerfield Movie Night on Friday, March 3rd OR Saturday morning, March 4th, from 9am – 12pm. On movie night, the collection area will be at the rear gym door in the back parking lot by the fields. On Saturday morning, the collection area will be at the front of the school in the traffic circle.

By donating gently-used clothing, shoes, accessories, books, linens, and small household items (no furniture or baby gear due to recalls), you can help raise funds for the many programs and events sponsored by the Deerfield PTO. Start gathering up your donations today! All donations are tax deductible and tax receipts will be handed out when you donate.

Help us reach our $1,000 goal – We get paid for every pound of goods donated! Plus, because we are partnering with Savers, every donation will also benefit a non-profit in our community such as the Epilepsy New England Foundation. Savers also does their part for Planet Earth by giving goods a second life instead of one in a landfill. Last year alone, Savers repurposed over 650 million pounds of goods - that's over 100,000 elephants.

So let's get those donations organized! We have heard from other organizations that pre-collection is key!! Tell family, friends, church, school, work, clubs, etc. OR feel free to organize mini-drives within your neighborhoods to recycle and donate more goods. Make it fun! And to sweeten the deal, each child who brings a full bag of soft goods to the FunDrive will be given a raffle ticket to win a Nintendo DSi with MarioKart 7! How cool is that??!!

Can't make the drop off times…give your donations to a friend to turn in for you or please contact Maureen Preskenis at mpresk73@yahoo.com and she will make alternative arrangements with you. All donations will be loaded on the truck at 12 noon on March 4th, so no late donations will be accepted.

Many volunteers will be needed to make this drive a success, so we would like to THANK the Deerfield 5th grade class for their time in staffing this event as a way of giving back for their wonderful years at Deerfield!!! Thank you 5th graders!
And let's make this an amazing success!
