Kindergarten FAQ

Prior to registering your child, we encourage you to read through the Frequently Asked Questions. In order to save you time, we suggest that you gather all required registration information and documents listed in the FAQs prior to submitting the online registration. 

 

Buffer Zones
The district has implemented a buffer zone strategy for elementary schools. Buffer zones are areas on the boundary between existing elementary school district zones. For addresses that fall into a buffer zone, incoming students may be assigned to one of two elementary schools to help maintain class size guidelines.

1. If new to Westwood, complete the Pre-Registration in Westwood Family Connection.

 

PLEASE NOTE: If you already have a child in the WPS, simply log in to your Aspen parent portal account and register your Kindergarten child there.

 

2. Submission of the following required documents and forms:

 

 ●     Proof of Residency (if not already uploaded via Family Connection)

●      Proof of Occupancy (2 forms) (if not already uploaded via Family Connection)

●      Original birth certificate (if not already uploaded via Family Connection)

●      Immunization records and physician’s report of a physical exam, including proof of lead screening and proof of vision screening. Please submit as one file. (if not already uploaded via Family Connection)

●      Completed Preschool Experience Survey (electronic form goes directly to your child’s school)

●      Free and Reduced Lunch Application (if applicable) -- Please note: The application for the 2026-2027 school year will be available in July/August.

 

Upon successful completion of the pre-registration, submission of all forms, verification of residency, and review of immunization records for compliance, your student will be assigned to a classroom.
