Thurston's School Site Council is a representative group of teachers, parents, students and community members who serve as an advisory board to the school leadership team.  SIte council meets regularly--typically once a month starting in October--and assists in the development of a School Improvement Plan, the review of the Student Handbook and Curriculum Accommodation Plan, and the formation of a budget.

Parent members of the council typically serve for 2-3 years.  Interested parents are asked to submit a brief bio/statement of interest in September, and in the event that there are too many candidates for the available positions, an election is held.  Student representatives are nominated by teachers and selected by the principal.
