There are many new faces at Pine Hill this year! We will be spotlighting some of those folks each month until we have gotten the chance to meet them all.
Reid Jones - Principal
I have served as Elementary Educator and have worked my entire career in Boston Public Schools. For the last two years I have served as the principal at the Mason School in Roxbury. There, my work focused on inclusive practices, and improving learning outcomes for all students at the Mason. Before the Mason, I was the Lynch Leadership Fellow at the Murphy K-8 School in Dorchester during the 21-22 school year, focusing on coaching and developing teachers to help them continually improve their practice and disrupt inequitable outcomes through strategic, intentional planning. Prior to that I taught grade 5 at the Mather Elementary School where I also served as the Transformation Plan Coordinator as well as a member of the school’s Instructional Leadership Team. Throughout my time in education, my focus on using data to guide reflection of teaching practices, and bring about more equitable educational outcomes is the driving factor in my work. I am a proud graduate of Cornell University, the Boston Teacher Residency through UMass Boston, and the Lynch Leadership Academy through Boston College.
When I am not at school, you can find me enjoying my (several) cups of coffee hanging with my wife, Amanda, and kids Elizabeth (3) and Brian (1). We love cooking and being outside whenever possible. I’m always interested in learning new things and try my best to read as much as possible. I also have a love for the Buffalo Bills.
Samantha Bean - Vice Principal
I am honored to be the Assistant Principal at Pine Hill. Prior to coming to Westwood, I have 10 years experience in education as a Special Educator and Administrator in Chelsea and Everett Public Schools. At Pine Hill, I am working on getting to know our amazing students and staff and celebrating student learning! I am a proud alumni of Lesley University, Northeastern University, and Salem State University. Additionally, I am a proud dog mom and swiftie!
Lindsay Strauss - Student Services Team Chair
Hi! I have been working in Special Education for the last 12 years. I started my
career as a teacher at the New England Center for Children where I worked in both their
residential and day school programs. NECC taught me a great deal about ABA and working
with students on the Autism Spectrum. I have spent the last 7 years working at Brookline High
School as a teacher in a program for students with significant cognitive and behavioral
challenges. I spent the last two summers coordinating the K-8 ESY program in Brookline. I am so grateful and excited to bring my knowledge and passion for Special Education to Westwood Public Schools.
