Welcome to the Early Childhood Office/Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) Program

The Westwood Eary Childhood Office is home of the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant (CFCE) which supports families with children ages birth through eight. Our mission is to provide the following programs and services which form the acronym PEACE.

Parent Education workshops

Early literacy and learning activities

Assistance with basic family needs

  • Beyond the Book: Play and Learn Book Club

    Join our new play and learn book club! For children and parents up to age 5. Parents will read a book of the month and discuss the various parenting styles and perspectives as children engage in enriching activities. Children will also have a "book of the month" of their own.

  • Early Childhood Council Meeting Dates

    Westwood Early Childhood Council welcomes new members to become involved in early childhood services, activities and programs that serve the community of Westwood.

  • Fall Program Guide

  • Introduction to Baby Sign Language

    Parents and babies up to 2 years old are invited to this 4 part series on how to strengthen the bond between baby and caregiver using sign language.

  • Mabels Labels Fundraiser

    Help support Westwood Early Childhood programs by ordering Mabels Labels to keep better track of your children's belongings. They are 100% guaranteed. They are customizable and durable as well dishwasher, microwave and laundry safe.

  • Preschool Scholarship Application

    The Kathy Scales Memorial Scholarship was established to help support the preschool aged children of Westwood whose families are unable to afford tuition for early education programs. Families with 3 and 4 year old children who are Westwood residents and demonstrate a financial need are eligible to apply. Families who experience temporary financial need ie. job loss, medical needs, or another crisis creating a financial emergency are also eligible to apply.

Coordinator's Message

I want to welcome you to the Early Childhood Office of the Westwood Public Schools and Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Program! (CFCE). The CFCE program is a state funded grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). The CFCE program serves as a resource hub for families and early educators of children ages birth through eight. We strive to strengthen families and support parents as their child's first teacher by offering free family-focused programs, resources, and services that enhance growth and learning. We offer a variety of literacy focused activities, and family playgroups throughout the community. Families may access resources, referrals and parent education on topics related to child development. We strive to support early educators to provide high quality programming with access to training and technical assistance and opportunities to share best practices. I welcome your call or email and look forward to working with you.
