Welcome and thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher for the Westwood Public Schools! Westwood is continuously seeking enthusiastic individuals who are considering a career in teaching and/or have experience working with young people. Our goal is to hire those capable of providing continuity and quality in our instructional programs.

The process begins with your online application. Your application will be reviewed, and if your qualifications meet the standards of employment and the needs of our schools, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.  If selected for an interview, you will be asked to complete required paperwork and then be assigned an identification number and PIN number to provide you access to the web-based substitute placement system, Absence Management (formerly Aesop).

What is Absence Management?

Westwood uses an automated substitute placement system. One of the most exciting features is the flexibility it provides to our substitute teachers. As a substitute for Westwood you will not only receive calls when jobs are available, but you will also have the ability to be proactive in your job search. Searching online or by telephone 24/7 allows you to create your own schedule!

You can create non-work days (days that you may be unavailable; a doctor’s appointment, for example), adjust the hours you prefer to receive incoming phone calls, and select which schools you prefer to be assigned.
