Dear Parents and Guardians of Martha Jones Students,

Welcome to the Martha Jones School! Hopefully, the Martha Jones School homepage will be one of the many ways that communication takes place between school and home this year.
 The core values of the school, which can best be summarized as academic excellence, respect for others, and personal responsibility, underlie all that we do. As a public school, we take seriously our mandate to prepare students for thoughtful and responsible participation in our democracy. This means the implementation of a rigorous academic curriculum in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, and also of high expectations for behavior and participation in a community of learners. Our school motto is for each student to:  work hard, be your best self and do the right thing.

We cannot do this alone. Children are most likely to succeed when there is close collaboration between home and school. Your support is vital. There will be many opportunities to visit Martha Jones throughout the year – from Curriculum Night, to parent breakfasts, to volunteer opportunities. Children benefit whenever they see their parents – mothers and fathers – actively involved in their schools. In addition to the many activities in the classrooms, the Martha Jones PTO offers opportunities for you to stay informed and to participate. Consider joining a PTO committee, attending a School Council meeting or volunteering in the building. In short, we hope you will become an active member of our school community.  Our job as a faculty will be to clarify and communicate our expectations throughout the year, to find meaningful ways for you to participate and through open communication and mutual respect to create a partnership that strengthens the entire educational community.
