Early-Release Day on Wednesday, December 9th
Wednesday, December 9th will be an early-release day for all students. Students will be dismissed at 11:25am and lunch will not be served in school.
PARCC Parent Reports
The Parent Reports containing the results from last spring's English Language Arts and Math PARCC exams were send home, through the mail, on Friday, December 4th. The PARCC exam was piloted last spring by our third, fourth, and fifth grade students. Once you have received the Parent Report and reviewed your child's results, please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss the results.
Internet Safety Presentation
Last Wednesday, December 2nd, Lynette Owens spoke to Deerfield's fourth and fifth grade students during the day and many Westwood Public School parents in the evening about internet safety. Founder and Global Director of Trend Micro’s Internet Safety for Kids and Families program, Lynette's message consisted of four parts: 1) Be (on the internet and establish your positive digital citizenship), 2) Be Safe, 3) Be Kind, and 4) Be Savvy. I believe her message was well-received by both students are parents. Lynette shared many resources that can help parents and children become great digital citizens. Deerfield Site Council Meeting
The next meeting of the Deerfield Site Council will take place on Monday, December 14th from 3:00pm – 4:00pm. The meeting will be held in the Deerfield office.
