STEM Investigations is a 1 hour program for children ages 3-5 with a parent/caregiver. STEM is an acronym for Science Technology Engineering and Math.  

Science is a way of thinking- Science is observing, experimenting making predictions sharing discoveries asking questions and wondering how things work. Activities may include exploring water or sand, comparing and contrasting natural materials, or conducting experiments  

Technology is a way of doing - Technology is using tools, being inventive, identifying problems and making things work. Activities may include using simple machines like scissors, gears, wheels, or magnifying glasses.

Engineering is way of doing. Engineering is solving problems, using a variety of materials,  designing, creating, and building things that work. Activities may include planning and designing structures with blocks, ramps, other building materials.

Math is a way of measuring- Math is numbers, sequencing, patterning, exploring shapes, volume and size. Activities may include counting and matching, sorting or making patterns. Parents/ caregivers are encouraged to participate in the activities with their children as their child’s first teacher while making connections with other parents’ caregivers.
